Wolverhampton Wanderers fans are in a celebratory mood after Cesar Peixoto confirmed that Kieran Trippier and Jean-Ricner Bellegarde were close to returning to the pitch.

The duo have been out of action for the majority of the season, with Bellegarde yet to make a single appearance for his new manager.

Trippier’s injury has also meant that Jackson Tchatchoua has remained at right-back, with the defender not impressing one bit.

Luckily, Peixoto has now confirmed that both players are looking to return for Sunday’s match against Sheffield United.

While a start is unlikely for either player, they could make the bench and have a good chance of being fully fit for next weekend’s Black Country derby.

Wolves will be desperate for a victory on Sunday after failing to win either of their last two matches.

Kieran Trippier and Jean-Ricner Bellegarde near return

The returns of both Trippier and Bellegarde will be massive boosts to Wolves.

If they are both fully fit for the Black Country derby next weekend, they could be the difference-makers at Molineux.

Wolves fans recognise this, and were ecstatic when it was revealed that the duo could be back in the squad this weekend.

Trippier return can help solve Wolves’ defensive woes

The biggest concern at Wolves at present is their terrible defensive record.

The club simply cannot defend and have conceded six goals in their last two matches alone.

This issue could easily cost them promotion come the end of the campaign, with Wolves yet to even keep a clean sheet in the Championship.

However, if Trippier returns quickly, it could help resolve the issue.

It is no secret that Tchatchoua is clearly not up to the task at hand, with the right-back a key reason as to why Wolves dropped two points against Birmingham City thanks to his comical own goal.

Therefore, Trippier’s return would see Tchatchoua removed from the starting XI.

On top of this, the 35-year-old’s leadership could help calm the backline, who seem to panic every time the opposition comes forward.

However, it remains to be seen how effective Trippier is when he returns.
