'Disgraceful' - Wolves fans fume at Fosun after concerning update

Wolverhampton Wanderers fans are furious with Fosun after reports emerged that the club could lose its Category One academy status.

A decision will be made on Monday on whether the Old Gold’s academy will be downgraded to Category Two.

The Old Gold side are locked in discussions with both the Professional Game Academy Audit Company (PGAAC) and Men’s Professional Game Committee (MPGC) to prevent this from happening, and have unveiled a £10million improvement project to drastically improve facilities.

This comes after concerns were raised surrounding the infrastructure in the last audit.

As a result, Wolves fans are fuming with their owners, as the club faces further humiliation.

The fanbase and the ownership came to blows multiple times in the 2025-26 campaign as the club were relegated from the Premier League, with former chairman Jeff Shi leaving his post in December.

Wolves fans call for Fosun to leave the club

Despite once leading Wolves to the Premier League and a Europa League quarter-final, Fosun are extremely unpopular at Molineux at present.

The Chinese investment group has overseen a steady decline at the club for years, which eventually resulted in their pitiful 2025-26 season, where they were essentially relegated before Christmas.

While much of the criticism has been due to the lack of investment in the squad, fans have also been concerned about the infrastructure, with little money going into the stadium or the academy.

Now, this looks to have finally caught up to Wolves, with The Telegraph reporting that they could now lose their Category One academy status, which allows them to recruit talented young players from across the entire country.

Wolves fans have not taken to this news kindly and quickly took to X to call for Fosun to sell the club.

Who have Wolves produced in their academy in recent years?

In recent years, Wolves have managed to bring through some talented players.

The most notable is no doubt Morgan Gibbs-White, who is now one of the Premier League’s best players at Nottingham Forest, and is also an England international.

Hugo Bueno is also a notable star, with the left-back still at the club as they prepare for their return to the Championship.

Rising star Mateus Mane could arguably be included in this list as well, having broken into Wolves’ first-team last season after a year in the academy. However, he was signed from Rochdale in 2024.
