Portsmouth have made an enquiry about signing Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Bobacar Traore.

Reports emerged on Friday that Pompey are interested in signing the 25-year-old before the transfer window closes.

Racing Santander are also keen, with Traore unlikely to feature much for Wolves this campaign after their relegation to the Championship.

The Mali international had been a squad player at the Old Gold club during his first two campaigns at Molineux.

However, last season, he was sent out on loan to Metz were he was part of the side that was relegated from Ligue 1.

Now, he could become the fifth exit from Wolves this summer after Dan Bentley made a move to Coventry City on Friday.

Wolves could regret Boubacar Traore sale

If Alan Nixon’s report is true, Traore could be an excellent signing for Portsmouth.

When the midfielder was part of the first-team at Wolves, he was no doubt a solid player who was great to bring on to see out the remaining minutes of matches.

In the Championship, his physical presence and experience could help him become a star player for the South Coast club if they are able to strike a deal.

In comparison, Wolves could come to regret departing with the midfielder, especially if they look for another player in this position in the coming days.

However, it remains to be seen if a deal does come to fruition before the transfer window closes.

What other business could Wolves complete this summer?

In recent days, Wolves have been heavily linked with a move for Amario Cozier-Duberry.

The Brighton and Hove Albion youngster had an excellent loan spell at Bolton Wanderers last season, where he helped the club win promotion to the Championship.

Multiple clubs are linked with the winger, including Rangers, who have reportedly seen a bid turned down in recent days.

Wolves are said to be chasing a new winger, and Cozier-Duberry is one of many players they are currently considering before the transfer window closes on 1 September.

However, it remains to be seen who Wolves will look to bring in as they aim to secure an immediate return to the Premier League.
