Wolverhampton Wanderers fans are extremely happy with the club after it emerged that flop Tolu Arokodare had not travelled to Portugal for pre-season training.

The 25-year-old has been heavily linked with an exit, with Fiorentina and Trabzonspor eyeing the striker.

Reports have emerged that the Italian side have seen a bid rejected for the Nigeria international due to the loan fee being too low. However, they remain in talks.

As a result, Wolves have opted not to take Arokodare to Portugal for their pre-season training ahead of their return to the Championship.

Despite the striker being one of their top scorers last season, this decision has been approved by much of the Old Gold faithful.

Arokodare moved to Molineux last summer and netted just six times in all competitions as the club were relegated from the Premier League.

Wolves fans pleased at Tolu Arokodare snub

Arokodare was no doubt a massive flop at Wolves last season.

Joining the club in a deal worth £23.4million from Genk, fans thought they might have a bargain on their hands after he finished as the top scorer in the Belgian Pro League in the 2024-25 campaign.

However, he failed to impress and even struggled to hold the ball up top despite being six feet six inches tall.

Therefore, when Liam Keen revealed that Arokodare has not travelled with Wolves to their pre-season camp, fans were overjoyed.

Many took to X to agree with the club on this move, insisting that he needs to be moved on this summer.

How bad was Arokodare last season?

According to Fotmob on 13 July, Arokodare was extremely poor in the Premier League last season.

Per 90 minutes, he averaged 0.19 goals, a 0.35 xG, 0.06 assists, a 0.03 xA, 0.77 chances created and 1.15 successful dribbles in the Premier League.

Therefore, it may be best for Wolves to try and send him out on loan in hope that he can recover his previous form.

If he is able to do this, he could go on to become a key player for the Old Gold side or present them with a great opportunity to sell him on.

Nevertheless, it remains to be seen where Arokodare will be playing his football during the 2026-27 campaign.
