Andy Couzens delivers verdict on Leeds top-six chances, slams display v Wolves
By Will Butcher
Andy Couzens has slammed Leeds’ first-half performance against Wolves on Monday as the “worst he has seen” all season, but said the club’s fate is still in their own hands.
Leeds dropped out of the Championship’s play-off places for the first time in five months as Paul Lambert’s side defied the odds to secure a 1-0 win at Elland Road.
Wolves’ January signing Ben Marshall slid a superb pass forward to speed machine Nouha Dicko, whose run split the Leeds defence with aplomb as he finished neatly past Rob Green.
Leeds upped the ante in the second half but found no way through, leaving them in seventh place with three games to go in England’s second tier.
Former Leeds midfielder Couzens claimed on his personal Twitter account that his former side were “second all over the pitch” and criticised the Yorkshire giants’ first-half performance.

Leeds are level on points with sixth-placed Fulham, who leapfrogged Leeds by beating 10-man Aston Villa 3-1 at Craven Cottage.
Carlos Carvalhal’s Sheffield Wednesday also triumphed, thanks to a 2-1 away win against QPR that sees them climb to fifth leaving Leeds adrift.
Former Swansea boss Monk will be hoping his side can rectify the situation and earn maximum points from the Whites’ final three fixtures against Burton, Norwich and Wigan.
The 38-year-old boss next takes to the dugout on Saturday, as Leeds travel to Burton’s Pirelli Stadium to face the Brewers who will be buoyant following their 2-0 win against Birmingham.
