Darren Bent claims Rangers defender Connor Goldson would be a “great signing” for Leeds United this summer transfer window.
The former Spurs and England striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, insists the 27-year-old’s quality and experience in England makes him an ideal capture for Marcelo Bielsa’s men.
As revealed by Football Insider, Leeds, West Brom, Fulham and West Ham are all in the hunt for the Ibrox powerhouse after establishing himself as a mainstay in Glasgow.
It is understood the Gers valued Goldson at £6million earlier in the year but that they now need to tie him down to a new deal to boost his worth amid the Coronavirus pandemic.
With Leeds pushing for a place in the Premier League next season, Bent believes the Rangers man ticks a lot of the necessary boxes at Elland Road.
Bent told Football Insider: “I didn’t think he was all that bad at Brighton – I’ve always thought he was powerful, always demanding and a commanding presence about him.
“For Leeds, yeah, he’s played in the Premier League so I think you need experience when you go to the Premier League, it’s a league like no other.
“You need quality, you need power, you need a whole lot of things to succeed in the Premier League so for me yeah, that would be a great signing.
“I used to see him quite a lot, I knew he was a big, powerful presence and he played a lot for Brighton.”
Goldson has already played 105 times for Rangers since joining the club back in 2018, with just two games missed this season.
Most of his experience in England has come in the lower reaches of the leagues, although he does have three Premier League games under his belt.
In other Leeds United news, Darren Bent admits he would quit the club if he was one senior star.
