'Wow' - Exclusive: Significant Tottenham transfer claim made by ex-Spur

Michael Brown has claimed Jose Mourinho has brought the “wow factor” to Tottenham which will attract talent in the upcoming window.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the midfielder, who spent two years at White Hart Lane, insisted players will want to play under the Spurs manager who is recognised worldwide for his achievements across European football.

Mourinho has enjoyed an indifferent start since taking over from Mauricio Pochettino at the end of November.

Spurs have been knocked out of all cup competitions and find themselves languishing eighth in the Premier League, seven points adrift of Chelsea and Champions League qualification.

Brown suggested the Lilywhites will be able to recruit top players this summer regardless of the season’s outcome.

“When Mourinho took over at Spurs everyone was wondering where it would take them but he gives them that wow factor,” he told Football Insider.

“You would want to sign.

“The only issue was how long Mourinho would be at Spurs. That is the only thing that is different to normal. It seems to have settled down and it has not been too volatile.

“Hopefully, Jose Mourinho stays for a long period of time and attracts players.”

Willian tops the list of potential targets. The Brazilian available on a free with his contract at Stamford Bridge expiring in June.

However, Spurs are not going to spend over £60million on any player this summer, Football Insider has learned, after the heavily criticised decision to furlough their non-playing staff last week.

This may provide complications after Harry Kane claiming he would not stay at the club “for the sake of it” in an interview with Jamie Redknapp.

In other Tottenham news, Noel Whelan has told Football Insider actions of senior Spurs figure shows “a lack of respect for government rules”.
