'Wow' - Robinson drops Nick Pope training ground reveal as Tottenham ramp up chase
Paul Robinson has claimed Tottenham target Nick Pope is "one of the best" goalkeepers in the Premier League and is destined to join a top club.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former England number one revealed that Pope, 28, would regularly impress him in training when the pair worked together at Burnley during the 2016/17 campaign.
According to the Daily Mail, Tottenham will launch a bid to sign the England international if Hugo Lloris leaves in the summer.
Robinson is adamant that Pope is ready to join a club on Spurs' level, having developed his skills under Burnley's goalkeeper coach Billy Mercer.
"When I first saw him I knew he was destined for the top level," he told Football Insider.
"He showed undoubted talent when I was there, while it was very raw. His natural ability was always there and his height and his size helps him.
"He would make saves in training and you would go, 'Wow. How did he get to that?'
"Billy Mercer has worked very hard with him over the past few years, particularly on his footwork and his movement around the goal and it is paying dividends.
"He has developed into a top goalkeeper at Burnley, he is one of the best in the league now."
