Wilfired Zaha has taken to Twitter to urge a critical Tottenham fan to “pipe down” after reports emerged he has opened new contract talks with Crystal Palace.
Sky Sports claimed on their website on Wednesday that Zaha’s representatives have started negotiations with the Palace hierarchy over an extended deal.
The wide forward has been strongly linked with Tottenham in recent transfer windows and Football Insider sources have learned that Spurs lodged an official bid of £14million last summer.
It is widely expected that Mauricio Pochettino’s side will make another attempt to prise Zaha from Selhurst Park in the forthcoming window.
The Sky report about Zaha’s talks with Palace was met with an acerbic response from one Spurs fan, who claimed on Twitter that the Ivory Coast international had “found his level” at the south London outfit.
Unusually, the player took the chance to respond on social media by telling the White Hart Lane supporter to “pipe down” on his personal Twitter account.

Zaha has had a fine season for Palace and played a major role as Sam Allardyce’s side guaranteed Premier League survival with a 4-0 win against Hull City last weekend.
The winger’s own contribution this season has been considerable, with his 34 Premier League matches yielding a highly impressive return of seven goals and 11 assists.
In other Tottenham transfer news, an exit-linked Spurs player has bid farewell to the club in an emotional video on Twitter.
