Terminate his contract: Rangers fans blast 31-year-old after display v Greenock Morton

By Harvey Byrne

Rangers fans blasted defender Philippe Senderos on Twitter after his display against Greenock Morton in the Scottish Cup on Sunday afternoon.

The 31-year-old started the match at Ibrox in the centre-back role alongside fellow experienced man Clint Hill.

Rangers ran out 2-1 victors over the Scottish Championship side with goals from Kenny Miller and Martyn Waghorn cancelling out an earlier Michael Tisder effort.

However, Senderos came under immense criticism after getting caught out of position on numerous occasions, including for the opening goal.

Much of the Ibrox fan base were calling for those in charge of the club to terminate the defender’s deal, while others simply lambasted the former Arsenal man.

Here are a selection of their messages on Twitter:

Senderos has been involved in four matches for the club this season in all competitions after signing on a one-year deal in the summer following his release from Swiss side Grasshoppers.

It is clear that fans now want the former Arsenal, AC Milan and Everton man to see the same fate at Ibrox with his deal set to end in May.

Rangers are currently struggling in the defence with Rob Kiernan also going through poor form, but it is clear that supporters don’t see Senderos as the answer.
