Their search could lead them to Newcastle United’s Freddie Woodman, who has been in great form over the past couple of seasons on loan in the Scottish Premiership with Kilmarnock and currently Aberdeen.
Magpies fans have even urged Rafa Benitez to use the England Under-21 international in the Premier League.
Woodman, 21, could decide to leave St James’ Park if he feels that he won’t get a chance next season and, if anything, he may be available for loan.
