Brendan Rodgers hails Celtic fringe player after win v Aberdeen
Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has praised his players for keeping calm in the 3-0 win over Aberdeen on Saturday.
The game initially looked boiling over after a series of crunching challenges from the Dons, but the Hoops eventually controlled the game and secured a comfortable victory.
As reported by Clyde 1 Superscoreboard’s official Twitter account, the Northern Irishman was also indirectly quoted of hailing fringe player Jonny Hayes, who scored his first goal for the Hoops and hopes he can “continue to improve”.
The Celts could have had a far more convincing victory than the three goal margin they eventually won by.
Mikael Lustig opened the scoring in the 40th minute after his shot was deflected into the net by Dominic Ball.
Moussa Demeble and Scott Sinclair then missed some great chances to add to the lead, before Hayes got the second goal in the 69th minute.
In the 75th minute Olivier Ntcham put a more realistic reflection on the final score as he latched on to a poor Kenny McLean backpass to make it 3-0.
The victory moved the Hoops eight points clear at the top of the Scottish Premiership, and they currently lead Rangers by 11 points after the Gers lost 2-1 to Kilmarnock.
The Hoops are next in action against Dundee on Boxing Day.
