22-year-old should be axed: Three things we learned about Leeds in win v Bristol City
COMMENT By Dominic Toner
Football Insider analyses three talking points from Leeds’ 2-1 victory against Bristol City in the Championship on Tuesday night.
Sacko should be dropped
Leeds attacker Hadi Sacko should be left out of the starting XI after his performance against Bristol City. The 22-year-old is extremely frustrating to watch as he clearly has all the tools to hurt defenders. He showed glimpses of his trickery on Tuesday and is blessed with raw pace. However, he was guilty of being poor in front of goal as he blazed a shot over the bar. Sacko also failed to produce the extra bit of quality that could have helped his side win more comfortably. Leeds have several attacking options at their disposal and Sacko should be benched until he can improve his final ball.
Green having a great season
Leeds goalkeeper Rob Green produced yet another fantastic performance and has been a huge part of the club’s promotion chase this season. The 37-year-old has been a bit of an unsung hero in the club’s campaign, with attacker Pablo Hernandez and Chris Wood taking all the headlines each week. However, it was Green who made some crucial saves against Bristol City and prevent them getting back into the game. The former England international has been a solid player for Monk and is one of the most reliable players in the team.
Hernandez is Premier League quality
Pablo Hernandez once again reminded people how he is good enough to be playing in the Premier League. The 31-year-old scored one and assisted another on Tuesday in the win over Bristol City. He is absolutely crucial to Garry Monk’s side and is the creative spark in the team. The former Swansea midfielder looks a class above in the Championship and can help Leeds achieve promotion if he can stay fit. Hernandez’s set-piece delivery makes the Whites hugely dangerous from the deal ball situation, allowing the likes of Chris Wood, Kyle Bartley, Pontus Jansson and Luke Ayling to attack the ball.
In other Leeds news, Wood has explained what the club must do to secure promotion.
