Source: Man United ‘go all out’ to land ‘by far the best candidate’ Thomas Tuchel

Man United are seizing the opportunity presented by the remarkable Chelsea development to try and poach Thomas Tuchel, Football Insider understands.

Chelsea are facing an uncertain future after Roman Abramovich was sanctioned by the UK government on Thursday following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

A United source has told Football Insider that the club are set to “go all out” to try and entice Tuchel from their Premier League rivals at the end of the season.

He is regarded by the United hierarchy as “by far the best candidate” given his pedigree, Premier League experience and proven ability at winning the biggest trophies.

Director of football John Murtough is leading the chase for the successor to interim manager Ralf Rangnick, who will step down at the end of the season to take on a consultant’s role.

Murtough is under huge pressure to secure a top-tier appointment who can restore the club to their former glories.

Last week, he revealed the club had started a “thorough process” to appoint their next manager and it is understood contact has now been made with a number of candidates.

Ajax coach Erik ten Hag and PSG’s Mauricio Pochettino figure prominently on United’s list.

But the opportunity presented by the dramatic developments at Chelsea offer United an opportunity to secure a manager who is of the same calibre as Liverpool and Man City’s managers Jurgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola.

Tuchel oversaw a 3-1 Premier League win over Norwich City on Thursday night and has insisted he is staying at Chelsea despite Abramovich’s decision to sell the club.

But he could find life at Stamford Bridge extremely difficult in the coming months.

Under the terms of Abramovich’s sanctions, Chelsea can no longer sell matchday tickets, merchandise, renegotiate contracts or negotiate new signings or sales.

In other news, Man United star has been “mugged off” in “the biggest surprise” yet from fall-out.
