Rangers Under-20 head coach has already had a brief taste of the first-team role after filling in as caretaker when Mark Warburton resigned.
Murty is a very highly-regarded youth coach and managed to get a 1-1 draw with Celtic at Parkhead in March with the first-team as Caixinha looked on from the stands.
Former Scotland international Murty will already be familiar with all of the players and has impressed with the Gers’ Development Squad.
He is still very inexperienced though so would be a big gamble to appoint him as first-team manager.
