46-yr-old is prime manager contender: Five things learned from King at Rangers AGM

King defended the decision to employ Caixinha, after the manager only lasted seven months in the job. The chairman revealed that when you hire a manager it’s always a “risk” and that the way Mark Warburton exited the club forced the board to commence a search on “short notice.”

The former manager only won 14 of his 22 games in charge and saw bitter rivals Celtic thrash the Gers 5-1 at Ibrox in April. The last straw for the board at Rangers was when the Portuguese manager’s side were knocked out of the Scottish League Cup, thanks to Motherwell, in the semi-finals. Looking back now it seems to be considered that it was a pretty disastrous reign.
