£10m duo dominate list of five worst Wolves signings in the 21st century
3. Tomasz Frankowski
Signed from: Elche– Fee (approx): £1.4million – Appearances: 17
Glenn Hoddle thought it would be a brilliant idea to sign Frankowski in January 2006 after a strong first half of the season in Spain with Elche, but the Polish forward failed to score a single goal in his entire Molineux spell.
He was dubbed “the Pole without a goal” by the Wanderers supporters and even missed out on a place in Poland’s 2006 World Cup squad due to his horrific form.
Hoddle said that Frankowski’s goalscoring record was “phenomenal” when he first signed for the club – if only he could have seen into the future.
