‘A solution is coming’: Keith Wyness reveals the Premier League’s plan for Man City 115 charges

Man City’s 115 charges case has to reach a conclusion which is fuelling greater uncertainty and more conspiracy theories.

That is according to ex-Everton, Aston Villa, and Aberdeen chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, who is hoping that the Premier League are “trying to find a solution behind the scenes.”

Man City were first dealt the charges by the Premier League for allegedly breaking financial rules in 2023, with no verdict having yet been reached on the case.

The alleged breaches are for a period between 2009 and 2018, where Man City won the first three Premier League titles in their history.

‘No one knows the facts’ on Man City’s 115 charges case

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – says everyone is “clutching at straws” over why a verdict is taking so long to reach.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast, Wyness is “surprised” that nothing has been leaked over the case.

He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “Lots of different ideas about what sort of solution could be. No one knows the facts.

“They’ve managed to keep a pretty tight lid on this very well, and I’m surprised there’s been no leaks, but I’m just hoping that’s what’s taking the time.

“The story we’re getting is that it’s because some of the judges etc are tied up on other cases etc but that doesn’t seem to stack up in terms of the length of time this is now taking.

“So I’m afraid that we’re all at a bit of a loose end, but I say I’m just hoping that it’s because they’re trying to find a solution behind the scenes that can save face both for the Premier League and for Man City if it comes to that.

“So, I’m afraid there’s no light yet to shed on this, and we’re just all clutching at straws and I say conspiracies are starting to come into the picture, which is never good.”

Increasing concern over Man City’s stadium issue

Man City are also facing issues at the Etihad Stadium, with suggestions that away fans have been able to buy tickets in home sections of the ground.

Supporters, growing restless over high ticket prices, want the club to sort out their ticket transfer scheme system to ensure safety for home fans.

Like some other Premier League clubs recently, Man City have had problems with selling out home games, leading to empty seats inside the stadium.
