Aaron Cresswell: Campbell fumes as controversial West Ham footage analysed
Kevin Campbell has slammed referee Felix Zwayer for sending off West Ham defender Aaron Cresswell against Lyon.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Arsenal and Everton striker claimed “it’s sad” to see the 32-year-old suspended for what was “a booking at most.”
As shown on BT Sport (7 April), Cresswell was shown a straight red card by Zwayer after pulling down Lyon striker Moussa Dembele on the edge of the 18-yard box.
The left-back was adjudged to have denied a clear goalscoring opportunity, even though Dembele appeared to be taking the ball wide of the goal.
David Moyes will now be without the suspended Cresswell for Thursday’s second leg in Lyon.
When asked for his assessment of the incident, Campbell told Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs: “Look, I don’t think it was a red card.
“It was a booking at most.
“It is sad that he is going to miss the second leg. You just hope that West Ham get through so he can redeem himself. Cresswell is a fantastic player but they have got by without him already this season.

“I think West Ham can do it. I think they can go to Lyon and win. Lyon played well the other night but there is a lot more to come from West Ham. They will have more energy in the second leg. I think they can hurt them.
“It’s just a shame Cresswell won’t be there.”
