Aaron Hickey has head turned by Man City after source’s reveal – pundit

Alan Hutton has insisted Aaron Hickey will struggle to turn down a move to Man City.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Tottenham and Aston Villa defender understands why Pep Guardiola is interested in the 20-year-old.

On Wednesday (26 April), sources told this site that City and Man United have sent scouts to watch the Brentford defender this season.

The left-back joined the Bees from Bologna last summer on a four-year deal worth a reported fee of £14million that could rise to £18m with add-ons.

As quoted by Sky Sports (25 April), Brentford boss Thomas Frank insisted his side “will not sell” the young defender this summer.

Frank had no doubt Hickey will reach the heights of a club like City, but is not at that level yet.

Hutton suggested an offer from the Sky Blues may be too hard to turn down.

The draw of Man City might be difficult to reject,” he told Football Insider.

“This is a player who took the opportunity to go abroad and go to Italy and further his career.

He is now in the Premier League, the best league in the world. Can you turn down Man City? It would be very difficult, and I can certainly see him accepting.

“He is very versatile I think that is probably one of the reasons Pep likes him, he can play on the left or on the right, he can come inside.

These are all things that Guardiola likes in his defenders.
