Aaron Lennon sends Twitter message after scoring in pre-season victory

By Derek Smithson

Everton midfielder Aaron Lennon revealed his delight on Twitter after scoring in the club’s pre-season victory over FC Twente.

The Toffees secured a 3-0 win over Dutch outfit Twente and continued to work towards the beginning of the Premier League season.

Kevin Mirallas, Kieran Dowell and Lennon were on the scoresheet for the Merseyside club

The right winger managed to dribble inside to the penalty and calmly finish into the far bottom corner.

The former England international is hoping to be in contention ahead of the new season and has not featured in the Premier League since February.

He was admitted to hospital in May when detained under the Mental Health Act, but has linked back up with the Everton squad and is showing some good form in the pre-season.

Lennon voiced his joy with his contribution on Wednesday night as Koeman’s team continued their summer games.

“Good win from the lads tonight, happy to get on the scoresheet and some more minutes under my belt,” Lennon wrote on his personal Twitter account.

Lennon has become a popular player at Goodison Park and has 58 appearances for Everton.

He will face tough competition to earn a spot in Koeman’s side for the upcoming season as the Toffees look to break into the top six of the Premier League.

The attacker will battle the likes of Ademola Lookman, Sandro Ramirez, Kevin Mirallas and Yannick Bolasie.

In other Everton news, they could activate a £26.5million release clause to land an attacker.
