Aaron Ramsdale: Expert shocked by Arsenal fall-out

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness has admitted he is “surprised” by the “very bad treatment” of Aaron Ramsdale at Arsenal.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – claimed Nottingham Forest could be a “perfect” destination for the goalkeeper, who has fallen out of favour at the Emirates Stadium.

Football Insider revealed on Wednesday (31 July) that Arsenal are considering allowing Forest target Ramsdale, 26, to leave on loan before the transfer deadline.

The Gunners have set a big-money price tag for the England international but it is believed they could accept a loan offer late in the window if a permanent bid doesn’t arrive.

Southampton are also keen on the goalkeeper, who was dropped for David Raya in the 2023-24 campaign.

Ramsdale told to quit Arsenal for ‘perfect’ Nottingham Forest move

Wyness claimed Ramsdale could be one of the standout shot-stoppers of the new season if he finalises a loan exit.

He told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “I think Ramsdale could well leave on loan.

“He’s a great keeper and I think he’s been very badly treated at Arsenal.

“I’m surprised with how everything unfolded because he’s a very good goalkeeper.

“I remember when he first arrived, he had a fantastic spell – but a second keeper came in.

“If they can get him in at Forest, he’d be one of the best goalkeepers of the new season.

“He’s perfect for what they need.”
