Aaron Ramsey: Pundit reacts to new Rangers development – ‘no-one deserves that’

Aaron Ramsey’s injury struggles should come as no surprise to Rangers.

That’s according to former Celtic hitman Frank McAvennie, speaking exclusively to Football Insider after another blow for the midfielder.

Ramsey, 31, failed to make the matchday squad for Rangers’ 2-2 draw with Motherwell on Sunday (27 February).

A knock had ruled him out of the Gers’ previous two games but Giovanni van Bronckhorst revealed on Friday (25 February) the Juventus loanee had returned to training.

The midfielder has only played a combined total of 94 minutes across four matches since he joined Rangers on loan from Juventus in January.

However, McAvennie is not surprised by Ramsey’s injury issues.

“It’s hardly a surprise, is it?” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“The guy hasn’t kicked a ball for three years or whatever and he was always known for his fitness issues.

“I do feel sorry for him because no one deserves that many injury problems.

“On his day he is a talent but I’m just not sure how much of him Rangers fans are going to see.

“Rangers have paid a lot of money for him and they will have known about his injury record.

“He must have passed a medical as well, like I said it’s a lot of money they spent so if there were any doubts surely they wouldn’t have signed him.

“I wish him all the best and hope he gets over whatever this is as soon as possible.”

In other news, one pundit has backed Celtic to beat Rangers to the title after a significant new development.
