Aaron Ramsey: Rangers to get major boost when new signing ‘puts on boots for first time’ – Kenny

Rangers will be handed a significant boost when Aaron Ramsey makes his debut for the club.

That’s according to former Leeds United stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider insisted the midfielder’s arrival is “really exciting”.

Rangers confirmed the loan arrival of Ramsey, 31, from Juventus on transfer deadline day (31 January).

The midfielder was not included in the squad to face Celtic on Wednesday (2 February) but was at Parkhead for the game.

Ramsey has only played 112 minutes of football this season after struggling to nail down a starting spot in the Juventus side.

Kenny has concerns over Ramsey’s injury record but maintains he will give Rangers a boost.

“It’s a really exciting signing,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“I didn’t see it coming and he will give them some kind of boost and makes things happen when he puts his Rangers boots on for the first time.

“The problem is he hasn’t played a lot of football this season.

“So he needs to get fit and then stay fit, we know he has had issues with his injuries.

“It’s a good signing but when he can make that first appearance and whether he can play 90 minutes straight away is the thing to watch.

“If he gets back to his best then obviodsuly Rangers have a player on their hands.

“Every transfer is a risk, I get that. But the fans should be excited and it looks like they are.”

Rangers

Rangers lost their place at the top of the Premiership table as they lost 3-0 to Celtic.

They are next in action against Hearts on Sunday (6 February).
