‘Absolute clown’ – Rangers fans want Danny Rohl sacked ‘immediately’ after scenes vs Celtic
Rangers supporters have exploded at Danny Rohl after throwing a two-goal lead against Celtic in the Old Firm derby.
Youssef Chermiti sparked Ibrox into life just eight minutes into the game, netting an incredible overhead kick, before doubling Rangers‘ lead 18 minutes later on Sunday, 1 March.
Rohl‘s side appeared set to cruise to an important three points, with Celtic clearly tired from their Europa League clash against VfB Stuttgart, and no real answer in the opening 45 minutes.
However, after the half-time break, the roles were completely reversed, with goals from Kieran Tierney and Reo Hatate turning the tables to ensure the Hoops left Ibrox with a point.
Unfortunately, Dujon Sterling was punished for a handball inside the six-yard box, allowing the Gers’ rivals to equalise in added time, stopping them from moving closer to Hearts in the Scottish Premiership table.

Rohl has won 17 of his 30 matches in charge, losing just six of them, but there is a growing frustration around Ibrox, especially after spurning an important three points at home.
Derek McInnes’ Hearts remain six points ahead at the top of the Scottish Premiership table, with one supporter now wanting Rohl sacked “immediately” following the result at Ibrox.
With another supporter even labelling his record against the top six as “Russel Martin-esque,” it is fair to say that several fans didn’t take the draw very well this weekend.
- @SirJohnofCalvin: “Rangers results under Danny Rohl have been dreadful. His record against the top 6 is embarrassing. It’s actually Russell Martin-esque. I could easily see us finishing 4th now. A real possibility if we don’t sack Rohl right now.”
- @MrBlue1701: “I will say it again so we don’t waste next season. Sack Rohl and get the Motherwell manager before it’s too late.”
- @BigDawgGD: “Can we sack Rohl now? Absolute clown and he’s blown a league we should be winning easily.”
Which managers could Rangers target as Rohl’s successor?
The Ibrox job is one of the toughest in football, with expectations extremely high due to the quality across the league, and the desire to play in European competitions.
Back in January, even Xabi Alonso was tipped with an outside move to Scotland following his departure from the Bernabeu, albeit it was priced at 66/1.
McInnes has always been admired at Ibrox, while Motherwell’s Jens Berthel Askou is now expected to end up at Rangers following an incredible start to life at Fir Park.
Given the manager sack race in the Premier League, however, there could be several big names available before the summer. Eddie Howe, Nuno Espirito Santo and Scott Parker are all under pressure.
It would not be a surprise to see one of the names from England go north of the border in the seasons, but sacking Rohl seemed like a very harsh decision right now.
