‘Absolute shambles’ – Rangers fans explode at Ibrox board after another manager snub

Rangers’ hierarchy has been hit with yet another setback as the search for Russell Martin’s replacement continues at Ibrox.

Martin was in charge for just 123 days before being relieved of his duties, winning just 29 per cent of his games in charge and setting a historic low in the club’s history.

Steven Gerrard had flown into London for talks with Paraag Marathe and Andrew Cavenagh, but he quickly decided that a return to Ibrox was not the best decision in his own interests.

Multiple managers have been linked since, including Hearts’ Derek McInnes and Coventry City‘s Frank Lampard, but Danny Rohl had emerged as a lead contender to lead in the dugout.

Now, that all appears to have changed.

Danny Rohl pulls out of becoming Rangers’ new manager

According to journalist Chris Jack (15 October), Rohl has informed the Gers of his decision to pull out of the running, with Kevin Muscat now more likely to take over.

Understandably, supporters have not taken the news well, with frustrations already at a record high at Ibrox.

One supporter simply called out the club as being an “absolute shambles”, while another questions if Rohl pulled out of proceedings after meeting some of those higher up at Ibrox.

Fans are desperate for the season to get back on track, especially with the Light Blues sitting eighth in the Scottish Premiership after seven games, and currently winless in the Europa League.

Who else is in contention to take over at Ibrox?

Many believe that Muscat could be announced as the new manager, but Football Insider understands that Slaven Bilic is another option for Rangers as the search continues.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has also been mentioned, but with his lack of experience at the top level, at least after leaving Man United, his name has not been met with the greatest reception.

Fans were really excited about the prospect of Rohl joining, especially after the disappointment of Gerrard, but it feels as though the Gers have returned to square one after the latest blow.

Things on the pitch need fixing imminently, but that is almost impossible without a consistent figure in the dugout.
