'Absolutely astounded' - Exclusive: Paul Robinson stunned as West Ham plot transfer exit

Paul Robinson admits he is stunned that West Ham will be open to offers for midfielder Jack Wilshere when the January transfer window opens.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, the former Leeds and Tottenham says that he would be amazed should the 27-year-old leave the east London outfit after 18 months at the club.

As exclusively revealed by Football Insider, Hammers boss Manuel Pellegrini is willing to sell the former Arsenal man after his fitness struggles, despite impressing on the training ground.

Robinson admits he can scarcely believe that the Irons would be willing to let the 34-cap international depart the London Stadium this summer, suggesting he could be a first-team option for a number of the club’s top-flight rivals.

“He’s 27, he’s still got plenty to give,” Robinson told Football Insider.

“I’d be absolutely astounded if West Ham were to listen to offers for him. I think when he’s fit and playing well, he’s a quality player who would fit into a lot of Premier League sides.

Wilshere has managed to play just 16 times for the Hammers since joining on a free transfer last summer, with a groin injury keeping him out of action since October.

He has started just two Premier League games this season, while he also played 66 minutes in the shock 4-0 defeat to Oxford United in the League Cup.

In other West Ham news, it can be REVEALED that Daniel Levy is set to block Hammers pursuit of Tottenham man who’s keen to move.
