Adam Idah reacts to Celtic transfer announcement after Brendan Rodgers ‘demands’

Adam Idah reacted after Celtic shared a transfer announcement on social media amid an overhaul of Brendan Rodgers’ squad.

The Hoops cruised to their fourth consecutive Scottish Premiership title last season but seem keen not to rest on their laurels this summer.

Rangers’ takeover by Andrew Cavenagh and 49ers Enterprises means Celtic‘s old foes pose much more of a threat than they have in recent history.

The Bears have made five additions to their squad already, including the signing of Bournemouth defender Max Aarons on loan.

And perhaps sensing a threat, Celtic are matching Rangers‘ activity by making plenty of signings of their own.

Kieran Tierney has returned to Parkhead, whilst Benjamin Nygren has joined from Danish club Nordsjælland.

Pete O’Rourke revealed to Football Insider that Brendan Rodgers would likely “demand” backing from the Celtic board in the transfer window, and the club’s hierarchy seems to be following through.

Hayato Inamura joins Celtic from Albirex Niigata

Hayato Inamura has become the fifth player to join Celtic this summer, signing from J. League side Albirex Niigata.

The Scottish champions shared an image of the Japanese defender in the famous green and white hoops on Instagram, captioned: “Celtic are delighted to announce the signing of Hayato Inamura, who has joined the club on a four-year deal from Japanese side, Albirex Niigata, subject to international clearance.”

The post was liked by Idah, showing support for his new teammate.

Football Insider Verdict

Inamura’s arrival at Celtic has come out of left field and according to Rodgers, via BBC Sport, the defender could be sent out on loan right away.

When asked if the Japanese defender would be ready to go straight into the first team, the Hoops’ boss said: “No, he won’t be. He’s a part of the investment of the club.”

Which makes the £250,000 fee [Sky Sports] spent on a 23-year-old who has made just 36 career appearances for a club that looks destined for relegation from Japan’s top division somewhat perplexing.

The cost is hardly season-defining, but it is not an insignificant amount of money to spend on a player who may play no part in Celtic’s 2025/26 season.

The thing that is harder to contend with is how much growth a player can make when they are already 23 years of age.

Inamura may come on leaps and bounds with exposure to Scottish or European football, which will be Celtic’s hope at least, but it is certainly one of the stranger transfers this summer.
