Adam Wharton responds to Marc Guehi’s message after what happened vs Liverpool
Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi shared a heartfelt message to the supporters after beating Liverpool at Wembley.
Oliver Glasner’s side had another memorable day at Wembley following as Crystal Palace lifted the Community Shield over the reigning Premier League champions.
The Eagles twice came from behind, with Hugo Ekitike scoring just four minutes into his debut and Jeremie Frimpong also finding the net.
However, Palace refused to buckle, hitting back through Jean-Philippe Mateta’s penalty and an Ismaila Sarr equaliser to force the game to a shootout.
Guehi, who delivered an assured performance at the back, had the honour of lifting the Community Shield after Palace edged the penalties against the reigning Premier League champions.
The captain later posted on Instagram to share a message with supporters, marking another special chapter in the club’s recent list of Wembley successes.
Marc Guehi earns Premier League support after Community Shield win
Guehi marked Crystal Palace’s latest Wembley success by posting a series of photos with the Community Shield, accompanied by a heartfelt message.
He captioned the post: “GOD DID. Back-to-back!” and received plenty of support with teammates Eddie Nketiah and Justin Devenny liking the post, while Adam Wharton commented “Skip”.
Newcastle’s Anthony Gordon, Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers and Nottingham Forest’s Morgan Gibbs-White were also among the Premier League names to show their appreciation by liking the message.
While he enjoys strong backing in the dressing room, speculation over his future continues to grow. Football Insider revealed Guehi has his heart set on joining Liverpool, with the Reds reigniting their interest this summer.
The 25-year-old has just one year left on his current deal, making this transfer window the club’s last major chance to secure a significant fee should he opt not to extend.
His loss would be a blow as he has been a standout performer under Glasner and since arriving from Chelsea, proving a consistent and commanding presence at the heart of the defence.

Crystal Palace suffer Trevoh Chalobah setback
With Guehi’s long-term future in doubt, Palace have been exploring potential replacements, including the possibility of bringing back Trevoh Chalobah.
However, Football Insider revealed that Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca is keen to keep Chalobah this season.
Chalobah was recalled from a loan spell at Palace earlier this year, but went on to play a key role in the season and Chelsea’s Club World Cup triumph. It now appears the Blues are unwilling to sanction his departure.
