Adebayo Akinfenwa: Ex-Fifa official expects multiple investigations after Wycombe-MK Dons controversy
Keith Hackett has claimed the FA, MK Dons and Wycombe will launch investigations into chants aimed at Adebayo Akinfenwa when the two clubs met on Saturday (29 January).
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Fifa and Premier League referee delivered his verdict on the incident during MK Dons’ 1-0 win in the Buckinghamshire derby.
The game was stopped briefly in the first half to try and stop the MK Dons fans chanting at ex-AFC Wimbledon striker Akinfenwa.
The iconic striker told club media after the game he wanted the authorities to “shut down” the offensive chants.
“There is a designated area of the field to warm up,” Hackett told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.
“Because the game was stopped the club, the home team, had the opportunity to work out what, when, who and investigate.
“They can then increase stewarding in that area or the referee can allow him to warm up in the other half of the field.
“There are a number of actions to be taken once it is brought to the attention of the referee.
“When the referee completes his game, he has an exceptional report area to report situations like this through the system.
“It’s more than likely the FA will investigate. They don’t take these matters lightly, the club itself don’t take these matters lightly. They themselves will investigate because it damages their image.
“Be assured this will be investigated.”

The result on the pitch saw MK Dons climb above Wycombe into fourth but they are level on points.
They are just three points off the automatic places and four points off the top.
