Agbonlahor: Alexis Mac Allister backed to explode at Tottenham as ‘big’ transfer claim issued
Alexis Mac Allister would thrive at a “bigger club” like Tottenham, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker admitted it would take a “big fee” to get him out of Brighton & Hove Albion.
The 23-year-old was a key player in Argentina’s victorious World Cup campaign as he featured in six of their seven games, chipping in with a goal and an assist.
He signed a new four-and-a-half-year deal with Brighton in October.
As quoted by BBC Sport earlier this week (19 December), chief executive Paul Barber hoped that they would be able to keep hold of Mac Allister for a few more years as a result.
The Daily Mail reported on Wednesday (21 December) that Tottenham, Arsenal and Atletico Madrid are all interested in signing the midfielder.
“I’ve been really impressed with him at Brighton and thought he was a very good player,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.
“Then for Argentina, he’s done very well as well. Maybe he’s one of those players who, when he’s playing with better players, he plays better.
“Maybe he would be better if he went to a bigger club and you’d get more out of him.
“Brighton were very clever to get him signed up before the World Cup. I’m sure it’s going to take a big fee to get him out.”

Mac Allister has scored 11 times and provided three assists in 77 Premier League games for Brighton.
He moved to the Amex from Boca Juniors for a £7million fee in January 2019 but was loaned back to the Argentine club.
In other news, a club is close to signing a Tottenham sensation and a 1 January move is expected.
