Caicedo to definitely complete ‘huge move’ after sensational Liverpool twist – Agbonlahor

Gabby Agbonlahor has claimed Brighton star Moises Caicedo will not “kick up a fuss” to complete a move to Chelsea or Liverpool before the window shuts.

The former Aston Villa striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted the 21-year-old will be “relaxed” about his future and backed him for a mega-money move in 2024.

Football Insider revealed last week (30 July) that Chelsea are not currently in active talks to sign Moises Caicedo after Brighton rejected a second bid for his services.

However, Football Insider revealed on Wednesday (2nd August) that Liverpool have made contact with Brighton to register their interest in Caicedo in a shock move.

The player has already agreed personal terms with Chelsea but Mauricio Pochettino’s side have seen a £80million bid turned down.

Caicedo’s current contract at Brighton runs until June 2027 after he penned an extension earlier this year – despite a failed move to Arsenal in the January window.

Brighton will play Europa League football in the 2023-24 campaign, while Chelsea will be without continental football for the first time since the 2016-17 season.

Agbonlahor told Football Insider’s Ewan Kingsbury: “Caicedo signing a new contract will have made him a lot more relaxed.

“Brighton gave him that new deal, probably giving him about £70,000-a-week.

“That will have put him at ease and made him a lot happier. He knows the move will come and the money will come, maybe next summer. He will get the huge move he wants eventually, I’ve got no doubt about that.

Chelsea

“If Chelsea’s bid comes through, or even Liverpool, he’ll take the massive offer now – but if it doesn’t, I can’t see him kicking up a fuss.

“I think he’s going to be very relaxed and very happy to go into the Europa League with Brighton.”
