Agbonlahor can’t believe Wayne Rooney latest after Everton boardroom reveal – ‘they’re doomed’
Gabby Agbonlahor has insisted hiring Wayne Rooney to save “doomed” Everton from relegation would be another mistake from the club’s board.
The former Aston Villa striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, suggested the 37-year-old may want more experience before committing to a Premier League job.
According to The Sun (4 January), Rooney is among the list of potential candidates to replace Lampard compiled by Goodison Park chief Farhad Moshiri.

It is claimed that former Burnley boss Sean Dyche and Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou are also on the shortlist.
Lampard is under immense pressure following a run of eight games without a win – with his Toffees side conceding 19 goals in that same time span.
Rooney was approached regarding the Everton job last year but rejected the opportunity – and is now in charge at Major League Soccer outfit DC United.
The Merseysiders sit third from bottom in the Premier League.
When asked if hiring the inexperienced Rooney would be a mistake, Agbonlahor told Football Insider’s Ewan Kingsbury: “I think it would be.
“It’s hard with Everton. They seem a bit doomed.
“They’ve had experience, like Martinez, Ancelotti, and Benitez, and it’s not worked.
“Now they’ve got Lampard, and that hasn’t worked. Where do you go from here?

“I feel like they really need to find the right person.
“I don’t think Rooney would want the job, anyway. I think he’ll want more experience before he comes in to manage Everton.”
In other news, pundit claims Everton are about to suffer “huge blow” in transfer market – “it’s a complete mess”.
