Agbonlahor certain on Seamus Coleman finalising deal after Everton statement
Seamus Coleman is a “banker” to be given a new Everton contract, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker claimed Coleman is more than capable of being Nathan Patterson’s back up at Goodison Park.
The club captain, 33, is yet to feature in the Premier League this season and is out of contract next summer.

He has had to serve as Patterson’s deputy after he started Everton’s opening seven Premier League games.
However, the 22-year-old picked up an injury on international duty that could hand Coleman an opportunity to stake his claim.
Everton confirmed in a statement earlier this week (28 September) that Patterson will be out for up to five weeks with an ankle injury he sustained while representing Scotland.
That would keep him out until the beginning of November, just 10 days before the final fixtures before the break for the World Cup.
“When it’s a right-back or left-back they are more likely to get a new contract even though they are more likely to be back up,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.
“Coleman has been a great servant to the club, a great captain. Yes, his legs aren’t the same now but he can still fill in and do a good job when Patterson’s injured.
“I think he’s a banker to be given a new deal, definitely.”

Coleman has played 385 times across all competitions for Everton since his £60,000 move from Sligo Rovers in January 2009.
The Republic of Ireland international was made captain of his country in 2016 and become Everton skipper three years later.
