Agbonlahor cites Man City as Tottenham tipped to sign two ‘world-class’ players in January after source reveal

Gabby Agbonlahor has backed Tottenham to sign a “world-class” left-back and right-back in the January transfer window.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker claimed Tottenham’s squad would be “perfect” if they signed two new full-backs and a number 10.

Sources told Football Insider last week (29 October) that Daniel Levy has given the green light for multiple signings in the January window.

After public and private pleas, Antonio Conte could now strengthen his squad by adding three new faces in the winter window.

Tottenham had a successful January window last season as Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur both arrived from Juventus and proved instant successes.

“Conte needs to go out and do what Man City have done,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“Go out and buy a right-back and left-back who are world-class. Then you’ve got the chance to play four at the back because you can trust your defence and you can mix it up a bit.

“At the moment, Ryan Sessegnon is good some weeks then other weeks he is poor. Perisic is ok.

“He’s not having Djed Spence, he’ll probably go out on loan in January. Emerson Royal is horrendous. He doesn’t trust Matt Doherty.

“You look at Spurs, they need a number 10 and two full-backs then their team is perfect, for me.

“It’s little tweaks that Spurs need not loads of tweaks.”

As well as the Premier League, Tottenham also have the Champions League to negotiate after Christmas.

Their 2-1 win over Marseille on Tuesday night (1 November) ensure they topped the group and have progressed to the round of 16.

In other news, an “embarrassing” Tottenham player should never play again as “disgraceful” footage emerges.
