Agbonlahor digs at Gianluca Scamacca after what he’s seen at West Ham – ‘you can’t do that’
Gabby Agbonlahor has insisted West Ham must build their attack around January signing Danny Ings if they are to survive relegation this season.
The former Aston Villa striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted fellow strikers Michail Antonio and Gianluca Scamacca are not clinical enough in front of goal.
Ings scored his first two West Ham goals on his first start for the club during the 4-0 win over Nottingham Forest last week (25 February).
The England international, who cost a reported £15million in January, missed out on the FA Cup defeat against Man United on Wednesday (1 March) as he was cup-tied.
Antonio also scored against Forest, while summer-of-2022 signing Scamacca hasn’t turned out for the Hammers since 14 January.
The Italy international has managed only three Premier League goals this term and recently split with his agent after a breakdown in trust.
Agbonlahor told Football Insider’s Ewan Kingsbury: “Ings is a poacher, isn’t he?
“Those two goals were just pure instinct. Antonio hasn’t got that. Scamacca can’t do that.
“They wouldn’t have scored those goals.
“Ings isn’t the answer long-term, but this season – they’ve got to build the attack around him.
“Give him the balls inside the box, give him the service – he is the one who keeps them up.
“It’s simple for David Moyes.”

Ings has a record of just under a goal every three games in the Premier League but has suffered with a history of knee and hamstring injuries.
His best return came for Southampton in the 2019-20 season – when he notched 22 Premier League goals and finished just one strike away from winning the Golden Boot.
