Agbonlahor digs at ‘sloppy’ Kevin de Bruyne after what he spotted at Man City

Gabby Agbonlahor has sided with Pep Guardiola after he claimed Man City star Kevin de Bruyne hasn’t been at his best this season.

The former Aston Villa striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted the 31-year-old’s performance against Brighton on Saturday (22 October) was “sloppy”.

De Bruyne secured the three points in a 3-1 win at the Etihad on Saturday with a fantastic curling strike.

However, as quoted by the BBC post-match, Guardiola insisted the Belgium international is “not playing at his top level” and can “do better”.

As per Sofascore, he was accurate with just one of his four crosses, lost nine of his 13 attempted duels, and had a pass completion rate of 76%.

De Bruyne has netted twice and registered a league-high nine assists in 11 games so far this season.

Agbonlahor insisted it is “scary to think” about the levels the former Chelsea midfielder can reach.

He told Football Insider‘s Connor Whitley: “I think everyone who watched the game against Brighton will agree with Pep.

“He was sloppy on the ball, his crossing wasn’t great. He didn’t have the best of games.

“He scored a great goal, but he didn’t have the best of games.

“De Bruyne will know that. He will know the levels he can get to, and I completely agree with Pep – he’s not been at his best.

“But it’s scary to think that he can come again and get better.”
