Agbonlahor drops ‘scary’ Man United claim as two new blows confirmed – ‘the season is done’

Gabby Agbonlahor has insisted the injury crisis at Man United is a “massive blow” and claimed teams will no longer find them “scary” as the run-in approaches.

The former Aston Villa striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, suggested Nottingham Forest should feel they are favourites when the two sides clash on Sunday (16 April).

Martinez and Varane were both withdrawn with injuries as Man United collapsed to a 2-2 draw against Sevilla in the Europa League on Thursday (13 April).

As per club media (14 April), Martinez will miss the rest of the season with a metatarsal injury while Varane will be out for “a few weeks”.

Marcus Rashford missed the clash with Sevilla and is expected to be out for the Premier League game against Nottingham Forest on Sunday (16 April).

Man United are still fighting on three fronts – for a top-four finish, the FA Cup and in the Europa League.

Agbonlahor told Football Insider’s Ewan Kingsbury: “I think it’s a massive blow.

“Martinez’s injury reminded me of an Achilles originally, but it’s turned out to be his metatarsal.

“If you can’t walk off the pitch, the season is done for you – especially with six weeks left.

Man United

“Rashford’s struggling too, and I just feel like with this Man United team now – teams just won’t find them as scary. That’s a problem.

“Nottingham Forest are desperate for points. They should be looking at that United side and thinking that they’re going for three points.”
