Agbonlahor: Erling Haaland left ‘devastated’ as Man City image emerges

Erling Haaland would have been “frustrated” watching the World Cup as he returns to Man City training, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker also claimed that Haaland will have been “happy with the rest” and will be ready to go again for Man City.

The club released images on Twitter of their players who did not feature at the World Cup returning to training on Monday (5 December).

They have 16 players who featured at the tournament – more than any other Premier League club – but those who did not have now flown out to Abu Dhabi for a mid-season training camp.

Asked if Haaland would have been devastated to watch the World Cup from the sidelines, Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “Yes, definitely.

“What it will give Haaland is frustration that the Norweigan side are not good enough,”

“He will want more money in the Norweigan FA to get better players into the side by improving the youth teams.

“He will look at it and think ‘I want to be the best ever’ and you cannot do that until you win the World Cup. If you are not playing in it, it’s going to affect him.

“I’m sure he’s going to be frustrated by all these players on the World stage and he’s not there.

“But I’m sure he’ll be happy with the rest and will come back fresh from the World Cup break.”

Norway failed to qualify for the World Cup after finishing third in their qualifying group behind Netherlands and Turkey.

They have not qualified for the tournament since 1998 when they reached the round of 16 and they featured in their only European Championship two years later.
