Agbonlahor eviscerates Anthony Martial in new Man United exit verdict

Gabby Agbonlahor has suggested Erik ten Hag will be “desperate” to get “moody” striker Anthony Martial out of Man United in the summer window.

The former Aston Villa striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed the Old Trafford club should put the 27-year-old “at the top of the transfer list”.

Martial was brought back into the Man United starting lineup against Brighton on Thursday (4 May) but couldn’t make an impact as Ten Hag’s side fell to a 1-0 loss.

The France international, who joined the Red Devils back in 2015, has notched seven goals and three assists in 24 appearances across all competitions this season – but has scored just four times in the Premier League.

Martial’s contract is set to expire at the end of the 2023-24 campaign, but he has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford this summer.

The striker has been sidelined by various injuries this term – including problems with his hip, hamstring, Achilles and back.

Agbonlahor told Football Insider’s Ewan Kingsbury: “I think I’d put him on the top of the transfer list.

“If there’s a car boot sale, I’d put him up for sale in that.

“He’s been that poor for Man United recently. He’s unreliable, inconsistent, moody, doesn’t want to be on the pitch – that’s the sort of teammate you don’t want.

“When he comes off, he looks like he’s been hard done by – even when he’s done nothing in the game.

“I think Ten Hag will be desperate to get out. He’ll want him as far away from Manchester as possible.

“The joke’s over for him. Martial has so much talent, but hard work beats talent – and Martial doesn’t work hard.”
