Agbonlahor eviscerates Lucas Paqueta and two other West Ham big names
Gabby Agbonlahor has claimed the West Ham players should be blamed for their disappointing 2022-23 campaign – rather than David Moyes or the club’s recruitment team.
The former Aston Villa striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, suggested the club’s new signings will click next season and return the Irons to their best form.
West Ham are 14th in the Premier League but remain just three points above the relegation zone with nine games to play.
Those struggles come despite the Londoners spending a reported £170million on new signings over the two transfer windows this season.
International stars Lucas Paqueta, Gianluca Scamacca and Maxwell Cornet have all arrived at the London Stadium but have struggled to make an impact.
David Moyes is close to the sack at West Ham but has bought himself time with a vital 1-0 win over Fulham on Saturday (8 April).
Agbonlahor told Football Insider’s Ewan Kingsbury: “The players they signed are all top-quality, international-level stars.
“Sometimes you have to look at the players – because they just haven’t done it.
“Paqueta starts for Brazil in the World Cup, then comes to West Ham and looks like he plays for the Faroe Islands.
“Scamacca as well – one week he’s outstanding, but the next week there are concerns about his fitness. Disgraceful, really.

“Cornet has had his problems with injury too.
“It wouldn’t surprise me if you see all these players shine next season. They’d have had a year at the club, adjusting to the Premier League. It wouldn’t surprise me if they couldn’t stop scoring.”
