Agbonlahor excited as ‘Massive’ Celtic news emerges from Lennoxtown
Gabriel Agbonlahor has admitted it is “massive” for Celtic to get their best players back fit again as James Forrest returns to training.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former England striker revealed he is a huge fan of the winger for his “direct” play and suggested he could be key in the Hoops’ quest for second place.
Forrest has been out of action since September with an ankle injury that required surgery.
The 29-year-old returned to full training at Lennoxtown on Monday with Neil Lennon confirming that Celtic’s game against St. Mirren on Tuesday night will come too soon for him.
Asked whether it would be a big boost for the Hoops’ squad to see Forrest return, Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “Definitely. It’s massive for Celtic.
“They’ve got to keep going and to get that Champions League spot, so they’ve got that for next season and they can qualify.
“They’ve just got to keep winning games now. They’ve had a lot of bad press but now it’s about getting your better players back because they’ve still got a great squad.
“James Forrest is one I really like as a player. He’s very direct.
“If they can get him back in the team again they can carry on winning games.”
Ahead of Tuesday’s game, Celtic sit second in the Scottish Premiership and are 21 points behind runaway league leaders Rangers.
Hibernian are just six points behind the Bhoys but they have played two more games than the Glasgow giants.
