Agbonlahor excited by ‘perfect’ Harvey Barnes signing as West Ham swoop
Gabby Agbonlahor has insisted Leicester star Harvey Barnes would be “perfect” for West Ham with European football once again on the horizon next term.
The former Aston Villa striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, suggested he would love to see the 25-year-old join his old side.
According to the Daily Mail (3 July), West Ham are among the Premier League heavy-hitters to enquire about a potential deal for Leicester star Barnes.
It is claimed Tottenham, Newcastle and Aston Villa have also made contact about a move for the England international.
Barnes managed a healthy return of 13 goals and three assists in 40 games across all competitions despite Leicester’s relegation.
The wingers’ contract at the King Power Stadium runs until June 2025.
West Ham will once again play Europa League football in the 2023-24 campaign after winning the Europa Conference League last term.
Agbonlahor told Football Insider’s Ewan Kingsbury: “He would be an upgrade in that position for West Ham, but Benrahma can move into the number ten role.
“There’s space for both of them in the team. The fans want to see attacking football.
“They’ve got Europa League football to think about again, so they need numbers and options.

“Wow, it’d be a perfect signing. I want Barnes at Aston Villa, but if he chose West Ham then he’d be a perfect addition to that squad.
“A front three of Barnes, Antonio and Bowen is a really formidable attack.”
