Agbonlahor hails ‘amazing business’ by Celtic after confirmed Friday news
Gabby Agbonlahor has claimed the triple signing of Daizen Maeda, Yosuke Ideguchi and Reo Hatate may turn out to be “amazing business” for Celtic.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker insisted the early winter break can help the trio hit the ground running for the new club.
Celtic confirmed on Friday (31 December) the arrival of Maeda, Ideguchi and Hatate.
Striker Maeda has signed on loan with an obligation to buy at the end of the season from Ange Postecoglou’s former side Yokohama F. Marinos.
Midfielder Ideguchi and player Hatate have both signed four-and-a-half-year deals after completing permanent moves from Gamba Osaka and Kawasaki Frontale, respectively.
After the break was brought forward the trio have over a fortnight before their new club is next in action when Hibs visit Parkhead on 17 January.
“You’ve got time with the winter break to see what they can do,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.
“Get them working together, get them used to their new teammates.
“I’m sure they’re very, very good players and it could turn out to be amazing business for Celtic.
“They’ve now got a group of people who can help each other. They are from the same country so that’s going to help them settle in more.
“It’s looking positive for Celtic.”

Celtic signed Kyogo Furuhashi from Japanese club Vissel Kobe in the summer and he was an instant success.
The striker has scored 16 goals in 26 games across all competitions for the Hoops.
