Agbonlahor: Harry Kane may be carrying injury as new Tottenham claim issued
Gabby Agbonlahor has suggested Harry Kane is carrying an injury as he is not showing his Tottenham form for England.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker claimed England need a “better version” of Kane if they want to win the World Cup.
The 29-year-old scored his first goal of the tournament in England’s 3-0 round of 16 win over Senegal on Sunday (4 December).
As of 5 December, he also had the most assists in the tournament after setting up three goals in three group stage games.
Kane’s involvement in the tournament was put in doubt last month after he was sent for a scan on his ankle following a challenge in England’s 6-2 win over Iran (21 November).
As quoted by BBC Sport last week (29 November), the England captain admitted there was “hype” around his potential injury but insisted that he feels good.
“Harry Kane has had injury problems but hasn’t looked fit this tournament,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.
“He’s had some nice assists but he hasn’t looked like the Harry Kane we’ve seen at Spurs this season. He’s looked a bit off it, for me.
“He needs to do better. If England are to win this World Cup, we need a better version of Harry Kane.”

Kane’s goal against Senegal made him the England men’s team’s joint top scorer alongside Wayne Rooney.
He has 11 goals in major tournaments and surpassed Gary Lineker’s record with his strike against the Africa Cup of Nations champions.
In other news, a young Tottenham attacker has arrived at his new club after being told to leave.
