Agbonlahor hits back as controversial Antony footage emerges from Man United

Gabby Agbonlahor has hit back at those who criticised Antony for kissing the Man United badge after scoring his first goal for his new club.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker suggested it was good to see a player showing passion for his new club.

The 22-year-old scored after just 35 minutes on his debut as Man United beat Arsenal 3-1 last weekend (4 September).

He finished off a fantastic team move where all 11 players touched the ball and celebrated by pointing and kissing the badge on his shirt.

Man United secured their fourth consecutive Premier League win of the season against Arsenal.

Antony then started the 1-0 defeat to Real Sociedad in midweek (8 September) before Man United’s game with Crystal Palace was postponed due to the death of Queen Elizabeth II.

“I don’t mind him kissing the badge,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“He’s excited to be at Man United, he’s at a club where he’s looking to get settled, there’s no problem.

“We argue that players don’t show enough passion and love for a club, so I don’t mind it at all.

“It doesn’t matter how long he’s been there, he might look at it as his new home. I have no problems with it at all.”

Man United

Antony moved to Man United from Ajax in the summer for a deal that could be worth over £86million with add-ons.

He joined Erik ten Hag and Old Trafford and signed a five-year deal with the club.

In other news, Kieran Maguire has claimed Man United fans will be “shocked” by a £94million Cristiano Ronaldo reveal.
