Agbonlahor issues ‘massive’ Arsenal claim as pundits swipe at Mikel Arteta
Arsenal are not over celebrating after games as they continue their winning start to the new Premier League season.
That’s according to former Aston Villa striker Gabby Agbonlahor, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about recent scenes at the Emirates.
Arsenal completed a resilient comeback against newly-promoted Fulham last weekend (27 August) to win 2-1 – maintaining both their 100% record this term and their two-point lead atop the Premier League.
Speaking on beIN Sports (28 August), sports personality Richard Keys slammed Arsenal for “over-celebrating” the win – insisting the scenes were indicative of “how far they’ve fallen” since Arsene Wenger’s reign.
“I don’t think they were [over celebrating],” Agbonhlahor told Football Insider‘s Connor Whitley.
“I think Arsenal have a winning mentality now, draws aren’t going to be good enough for them.
“Arteta has put a winning mentality on Arsenal where every win is big. No matter if they beat bottom of the league, whoever they beat, they will celebrate like that.
“They want to keep winning games, they are top of the league. It’s another massive result that kept them top of the league, of course they are going to celebrate.
“The next game they win, I’m sure they will celebrate just the same. Every Premier League win is big.
“Have Man City celebrated as much? No. But Arsenal are not Man City. Arsenal are in a different place and they are trying to keep up their 100% start to the season.
“I’m all for these celebrations. I feel like that is what you want to see from players. Maybe if they had won 3-0, they wouldn’t have celebrated like that but they came from a goal down.

“They showed, fight, desire, grit, determination, that is why you are going to get those sorts of celebrations.
“The two pundits that made those comments are looking for likes and trying to keep relevant. They don’t know much.”
