Agbonlahor shreds Richarlison after what he’s just seen at Tottenham – ‘sort it out’
Gabby Agbonlahor has claimed Tottenham forward Richarlison must “buck his ideas up” or face losing out on minutes to new signing Arnaut Danjuma.
The former Aston Villa striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, suggested the 25-year-old may have become “too comfortable” in his substitute role.
Tottenham announced the signing of Danjuma last week (25 January), with the Netherlands international signing on loan from Villarreal for the rest of this season.
Antonio Conte’s side swooped in to steal the winger away from relegation-threatened Everton – with the 26-year-old even completing a medical and media obligations at Goodison Park.
Danjuma marked his Spurs debut with a goal against Preston North End in the FA Cup on Saturday (28 January).
Richarlison is yet to score a Premier League goal in 13 appearances since joining the club for a reported £60million last summer (2022).
Agbonlahor told Football Insider’s Ewan Kingsbury: “I think Danjuma is a great signing.
“Richarlison needs competition. He can’t always be thinking that he’s the first sub to come off the bench.
“If Kulusevski, Kane, and Son are the starting three – then Richarlison may have been too comfortable in that substitute role.
“He’s got to buck his ideas up. He’s been poor. Zero Premier League goals and we’re in February, it’s not good enough.

“He’s had his injuries, but it’s not good enough.
“Danjuma’s a great signing and the race for the top four is heating up now. It’s hard to call.”
