Agbonlahor issues ‘scary’ Newcastle United claim as Bruno Guimaraes talks revealed

Bruno Guimaraes could outgrow Newcastle United if he has an impressive World Cup with Brazil, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker admitted Guimaraes may be happy to stay with Newcastle if they finish in the European places this season.

The 24-year-old has enjoyed a good start to the season and scored his first two goals of the campaign in the 5-1 win over Brentford on Saturday (8 October).

As quoted by the Mirror earlier this week (10 October), the midfielder revealed he has had a “conversation” with Real Madrid who he described as the “best club in the world”.

Asked if there was a danger that Guimaraes could outgrow Newcastle, Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “Yes, I think so.

“It just depends on Newcastle. Newcastle are scaring teams, if they break into Europe and he’s playing European football then he’s not in a rush.

“The only problem is that these players are playing for their countries. If he has a good World Cup with Brazil then it opens up more interest from the big clubs.

“Newcastle is a good place for him to be playing but I wouldn’t rule out a move if he continues the way he’s playing.”

Guimaraes moved to St. James’ Park in Lyon during the January transfer window and signed a four-and-a-half-year contract with the club.

The eight-time Brazil international has scored seven times and provided two assists in 23 Premier League games for Eddie Howe’s side.

In other news, Kieran Maguire has revealed that Newcastle United spending is to soar past £700million and it “will attract real publicity”.
