Agbonlahor issues verdict on Everton triggering Conor Coady clause
Gabby Agbonlahor has insisted Everton should complete the permanent signing of Conor Coady despite his recent omission from the side.
The former Aston Villa striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, suggested a deal for the 30-year-old former Wolves captain would represent good value for money.
According to the Liverpool Echo (10 April), Everton are yet to make a decision on the long-term future of on-loan star Conor Coady – with the Toffees having the option to buy the England international this summer.
The Athletic revealed in October 2022 that the Merseysiders will have to pay Wolves just £4.5million to sign the defender permanently.
Coady was a mainstay in the Everton side earlier in the 2022-23 campaign but has not played a minute in each of their last six games.
Manager Sean Dyche has instead restored Michael Keane to the lineup after their fruitful time together at Burnley.
Coady earns a reported wage of £55,000-a-week at Goodison Park.
Agbonlahor told Football Insider’s Ewan Kingsbury: “I would sign him for that sort of money.
“It’s not expensive. He’s a good defender, he’s got good leadership qualities.

“Yes, he’s lost his place – but he is the sort of player who can come back in when there are injuries or suspensions and put in a good performance.
“Maybe he won’t be in the first-choice pairing for Sean Dyche going forward, but you’d definitely want him in your side as a backup.”
